The Antisurge Control Application (ACA) designed and developed by Control-Care Systems, protects your centrifugal or axial compressor from experiencing surges efficiently and reliably. Control-Care’s method of accurately defining the surge line over a wide range of changing conditions allows you to set the control safety line for optimum surge protection without unnecessary recycling or blow-off.  The controller provides fully-integrated multi-loop, multiple-body compressor antisurge control on a hardware independent platform (PLC or DCS).

 

Our flexible Antisurge control configuration capabilities cover all types of centrifugal and axial turbocompressors. Multiple cases, multiple sections or side-loads in any type of process environment. The entire compressor train control scheme can include compressor performance and antisurge control, loadbalancing optimization, steam turbine speed control, gas turbine fuelcontrol, compressor and turbine auxiliaries sequencing, parametric diagnostics and ESD system interfacing.

 

Some benefits:

 

PID loops: The ACA offers PID loops for your compressor’s surge control. It uses the first PID loop to control the compressor’s operating point above the surge flow by a safety margin based on selected coordinate invariant system. A fallback PID loop module to control the operating point of the compressor above a projected flow calculation estimated from compressor pressure ratio and speed (or IGV position) at surge conditions in case the flow signal fails.

 

Compressor performance deviation alarming: Expected and actual performance of the compressor are compared and alarmed incase diverging.

 

User-friendly compressor surge line validation: Simplified application configuration calibration and compressor surge line validation by standard HMI screens and no manual calculations. Once a surge point is recorded, the controller allows automatic configuration reducing the risk of manual configuration errors.

 

Compressor surge counters: Independent surge counters are available, allowing you, for instance, to configure a shutdown command in case prolonged surging is seen caused by antisurge valve malfunctioning.
